He's off. My oldest has left for college and I'm feeling all the feels. Lucky for you, I generally find it's better to make fun of myself rather than lie on the fainting sofa limply waving an embroidered hankie. Over on Today Parents, you'll find my admittedly desperate idea for college drop off. What can I say? It seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm joining the wonderful Alexandra Rosas to bring you 27 Things That Made Me Cry When I Took My Kid to College on Huffington Post Parents. There were more, but our tears made them illegible. Finally, I'm privileged to have a piece on Brain, Child telling you about the little move that came before the big move. Spoiler: It wasn't so little after all. |
The party's over, isn't it? We're back from vacation and battening down the hatches for all the changes September brings. We're packing one son off to college, if you can believe that. Which is hard on the heart, but does have it's humorous moments. At least Today Parents thinks so.
My oldest son worked all summer, because we want him to be like a responsible adult or whatever. So we're squeezing our vacations into the last few weeks before school. Doing things in a last minute panic is also how I'm handling the pre-college Big Talk. You can see what I mean over on The Mid, where I lay out my Blurt Parenting technique. Wish me luck.
